Centers & Areas of Focus
Several research centers have been established within the Institute for Integrative Genome Biology to facilitate the collaboration of UC Riverside faculty and student researchers. Distinguished scientists at the Center for Plant Cell Biology seek to develop a comprehensive understanding of how plants function as whole organisms by studying cell biology and behavior. The goal of this interdisciplinary effort by engineers, plant biologists, plant pathologists, chemists, statisticians and computer scientists is to apply the knowledge of how plants respond to their dynamic environment toward manipulation of crop plants for better and more sustainable production. The Center for Disease Vector Research includes researchers studying vector-pathogen systems at the molecular, genetic and ecological levels to develop a comprehensive approach to the prevention and management of pathogen outbreaks. Emerging areas of research include Agricultural Genomics, Mammalian Genomics, and Biological Sciences and Biotechnology.
