Genomics Reserve Equipment
Be sure to read Facility Regulations, including the Genomics Core Regulations at the bottom, before using equipment in Noel T. Keen Hall instrumentation facility.
To Reserve Equipment
The equipment in the Genomics Core can be reserved once a Personal Profile Form has been completed and Training received. A paper sign-up sheet will be kept beside each instrument for walk-in users, and for tracking usage time. For access to the equipment, please the steps outlined below.
- Training is required to understand the basic operation procedures of any instrument. Please see Calendar for upcoming scheduled sessions and instructions on enrolling.
- Obtain approval and FAU from your PI.
- Complete and submit the online Personal Profile Form. You will receive an automatic email confirmation and be notified by the appropriate Core Manager who will assist you with scheduling dates/times on the equipment.
- All instruments may be used on a first-come, first-served basis. If demand increases, a web-based system may be adopted. Each piece of equipment has an accompanying log-in sheet. This sheet must be filled in completely.
- After using the equipment, please note the ending time. This is important since our rates for equipment are per hour of usage.
- When done, turn off the equipment and remove any clutter or spills you have created for the benefit of the next user. If you note a problem with any equipment, please inform our staff.
- For equipment without a sign-in sheet, you must obtain permission from Genomics Core staff before usage. It may require specialized training or it may be used for routine work, such as DNA sequencing or microarrays.
- For more specialized services such as FACS sorting or Affymetrics microarrays, contact Barbara Walter to make arrangements.
