TRAINING SERVICES

Description—
Training services are offered at levels suitable to the complexity of tasks.

  1. High throughput tasks such as DNA sequencing, Affymetrix services, and FACSAria are offered as services only.
  2. We offer our expertise in experimental design and trouble-shooting as necessary. Although these take considerable staff time, we strongly believe in providing as much assistance as we can to assist you in the successful completion of your experiments. If your discussions with our staff will take a significant amount of time, please call ahead to reserve time. This will ensure that you have our undivided attention.
  3. Free organized training is available for qPCR which is utilized broadly. The training is offered two to three times per year or as needed depending upon demand. Once trained, customers use the instrumentation on a per hour fee basis. Individuals may reserve time with Core personnel for specific problems or more in-depth training. This is typically free of charge.
  4. Organized training will be offered for the GenePix microarray scanner and Accuity 4.0 software in the near future.
  5. For instruments with a lower rate of usage (VersArray, QPix, Luminometer, Hydroshear), training is available on an individual basis.
  6. For instruments that are simple to operate (Nanodrop) or have many legacy users (Typhoon), training is available on an individual basis.
  7. Illumina (Solexa) Genome Analyzer II DNA Sequencer (new service Fall 2008): The Genomics Core anticipates offering workshops for first-time users of this technology in terms of general guidelines for library preparation as well as procedures for sample submission and analysis.

To Request or Enroll in Training
Please visit the IIGB Calendar for a schedule of upcoming Genomics workshops and seminars. To request a workshop for you or a small group (4-10 people) or register for scheduled workshops, please complete and submit a Personal Profile Form.  All training is offered at no charge, but an FAU is required for future booking and billing of equipment use. You will be contacted by the Genomics Specialist with confirmation of enrollment.
