Facilities and Services
Facilities and Services
The Institute is organized around a 10,000 sq.ft. suite of Instrumentation Facilities at Noel T. Keen Hall that serve as a centralized, shared-use resource for faculty, staff and students. The Core Facilities and staff offer advanced tools in bioinformatics, microscopy and imaging, proteomics and genomics and provide a focal point for broad-based cutting-edge biological research . These facilities are housed within the same building, providing researchers with the ability to access diverse technologies and expertise at one location.

A Ph.D.-level Academic Administrator and active researcher provides overall management and coordination of all core facilities, with an emphasis on the Genomics Core. In addition, each core facility is spearheaded by a Ph.D.-level Academic Coordinator, who participates in the research of many principal investigators and conducts training workshops and seminars on a regular basis. Together, the management and staff at the core facilities investigate and encourage interdisciplinary research and training opportunities.

Before Using the Instrumentation Facilities
The instruments at the core facilities are vital to the research of many labs on campus as well as users off-campus. Please carefully read Facilities Regulations prior to using equipment in Noel Keen Hall.
Tours
Anyone interested in an informative tour of any or all of the facilities is welcome to contact genomics@ucr.edu to arrange a time for a walk-through and discussion of what is available. If you are coordinating a group tour, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Indicate the size of your group as well as the level of scientific expertise (students, non-scientists, scientists) when making your request. In this way, tours can be targeted to the audience's level of interest.
- Groups are limited to five or less with the exception of student groups. The Microscopy rooms, in particular, are small and it is difficult to view images and presentations in larger numbers.
- In order to ensure the appropriate personnel are available to conduct the tours, please provide at least one week's advance notice, if possible.
Access and Hours
Keen Hall’s instrumentation facilities are available during the day (8am-5pm) to campus researchers and students. To arrange after-hour access, please call (951) 827-7177 or visit Keen Hall Room 2019.
