Reserve Equipment
Be sure to read Facility Regulations, including the Microscopy Core Regulations at the bottom, before using equipment in Noel T. Keen Hall instrumentation facility.
To Reserve Equipment
All the equipment in the microscopy facility can now be booked online. A paper sign-up sheet is kept beside each instrument to record all usage For access to the equipment, please follow the steps outlined below.
- Training is required to understand the basic operation procedures of any instrument. Please see Calendar for upcoming scheduled sessions and instructions on enrolling.
- Obtain approval and FAU from your PI.
- Complete and submit the Personal Profile Form to obtain Username and Password. You will receive automatic email notification of your group, user name and start-up password. If you do not get an automatic notification within two business days, please contact David Carter.
- Go to (http://faces.ccrc.uga.edu). The University of Georgia hosts our CEPCEB group on their FACES booking system. Enter CEPCEB as the group name, then your username and password to logon. Read the news section, then select the required instrument from the pull-down list. Click on the intended start time, then click again on the end time. Click Go to submit the reservation request. This resource can also be used to communicate with other booked users, by clicking on their reservation and entering a message. Please be considerate to other users by not booking more time than is expected to be used.
- Before using an instrument, users must sign the clipboard sheet, clearly indicating name, lab, date, and start time. Every user must sign in under their own name so that it is clear who reserved an instrument and who used it. At the end of a session, when the instrument is put away or passed on to the next user, enter the end time to complete your booking.
- Depending on demand, a session may be terminated early, or go beyond the reserved end time. If you will be unable to use a reserved instrument, cancel the booking promptly, so that other users have access to this resource. If you finish early, please contact the next user, to give them more time on the system if needed.
- Cancellation must take place at least 24 hours in advance on the busiest instruments, as indicated in the FACES News section. Users may also sign on and use an instrument without pre-booking, but reserved use always takes priority.
- All reserved hours on the busiest instruments will be billed, even if they are not used. Billing on lower demand instruments will be by time used, rounded up to the nearest hour.
- Reserved time may be cancelled at any time to schedule needed maintenance or repairs. As much warning as possible will be given, but occasionally, there will be no warning period.
