Proteomics Instruments

LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion

LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion
  • A high-end system for both proteomics and metabolomics in either positive or negative ion mode.
  • Both bottom-up and top-down proteomic studies.
  • Protein modification studies with ETD technology.
  • Label or label-free quantification.
  • SRM- (selective monitoring reaction) based quantification.
  • HCD, CID, and ETD combination of MS/MS and MSn.
  • Wide range and flexible MS methods available.
  • MudPIT methods for highly complex samples of thousands or more proteins.
  • It is the most recent model of the Orbitrap family.
  • A tribrid system consisting of 3 mass analyzer of single quadrupole, LTQ-iontrap, and enhanced Orbitrap.
  • Ultra-high resolution up to 450,000.
  • Detection limit as low as 0.1 femtomole.
  • 20 MS/MS spectra per second.
Technical Tips
  • Sample solvents/buffers and preparation procedures should be compatible with LC/MS.
  • Avoid potential contaminants such as karetins, detergents, and salts.
  • Samples have to be free of invisible particles that may clog the LC column and tubing.
  • Avoid sample overloading (<10 ug).
Sample Uses
  • Total cellular protein extracts after aceton precipitation.
  • Samples derived from SDS gels.
  • Co-IP or any other affinity-based pull-down samples.
  • Chemical libraries or other metabolites including lipids.
