Research Summary:

Telomeres function like physical caps on the ends of linear chromosomes, preventing deleterious degradation and recombination of the chromosome ends.  The projects in my lab are focused upon understanding at a molecular level how proteins associated with telomere sequences both protect the DNA ends and promote activities that facilitate the complete duplication of the ends during DNA replication.  Our current work uses the budding yeast, S. cerevisiae, as a model organism to dissect these problems.
