Bug Lovers - 5th Annual SCEP Symposium!

5th Annual SCEP Symposium

All bug lovers are invited to the 5th annual Southern California Eukaryotic Pathogen Symposium (SCEP) on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 in the Genomics Auditorium at the University of California, Riverside.

The past four years have attracted like-minded bug lovers from across nearby warm counties! It has been a highly successful meeting bringing students, postdocs and faculty together to give short talks, present posters, chat about science and nibble some food! All researchers, those that dabble and those merely curious about parasites and fungi, are welcome.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Michael White, Professor at the University of South Florida. Dr White investigates the biology of Toxoplasma gondii and uses a vast array of genetic and biochemical approaches to understand how the parasite divides, establishes chronic infection and the many mechanisms of parasite/host cell interactions.

Registration, abstract submission and food are all free of charge. However, registration is required and due to the increasing popularity of this meeting we have to limit the number of attendees to 100 (first come, first served). The deadline for abstracts is Wednesday, November 5, 2015. Information and registration is available at http://scep.ucr.edu/.

Sponsors: (IIGB, UCR School of Medicine (Biomed), Graduate Student Association (GSA), CMDB, CBNS, Nikon, Eppendorf, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Affymetrix).

The SCEP organizing committee: Meera Nair Karine Le Roch Jason Stajich Emma Wilson.
